The New York Diary, Day 1: San Juan

Arriving very early with Professor Lindo, Jessica and Tatiana (above) were extremely excited standing by their new home during two weeks, the NOAA Research Vessel Nancy Foster. Others aboard with them are two female undergrad students and Professor Sennai Habtes from the University of the Virgin Islands along with NOAA scientists. There is another researcher names Giovanni Seijo, major in physics from University of Puerto Rico, who will be helping Jess and Tatiana. He was already there before the girls and was engaging with the crew and the oceanographic equipment of Dr. Lindo that they will be deploying.

Once all equipment and cruise plan was settled, Jessica and Tatiana helped the crew bring the food they are going to consume onboard and they were even able to go out and enjoy themselves. Jessica and Tatiana along with Professor Lindo went on a beautiful stroll around old San Juan, the US coastguard base, El Morro. Then for lunch they indulged in some delicious Puerto Rican criollo food at a restaurant called, “Hecho en Casa”, which means made at home, where Giovanni was able to enjoy as well.
